Hydroton, otherwise known as lightweight expanded clay aggregate (Leca for short). This listing is for 1 pound of Hydroton clay pebbles.
Hydroton clay is used as an alternative to soil. These wonderful clay pebbles absorb moisture and any nutrients that you ad to is while also providing excellent drainage and aeration. They allow the roots of your plant to get much needed oxygen and can help prevent root rot.
Rinse and soak before use to remove any dust that may be present. Dust can clog the pores of the clay and prevent aeration.
Plants will be thrilled if you add a small amount of nutrients. I recommend an all natural fish and seaweed fertilizer.
Before you reuse your pebbles be sure to wash and sterilize them.
